Bethania Matheus
Bethania Matheus – Casting Director and Stylist

Bethania’s professional education comprises a diploma in Drama and Theatre Studies and a degree in Performing Arts from the State University of Campinas (one of the leading Brazilian and Latin American institutions of higher education). She has worked on costumes for musicals, art direction, choreography, set design for performances. She also has over ten years experience as a dance teacher developing social projects mixing dance, theatre and education. It took her a while to understand how she could mix all that with fashion. She has also worked as a professional model for over three years across Brazil, Greece and Italy and it was during this period that she started to gain experience in fashion show production and fashion styling. In 2008 she became part of the Brighton Frocks team, particularly being involved with the casting direction, production, styling, models co-ordination, and choreography and it was from that exciting experience that she finally clicked how to mix all that with her background in Performing Arts. Since then, she has completed a course at Saint Martin’s School, worked at London Fashion Week and she has become a freelancer, working on show production, model scouting, styling and catwalk training for models and non models. She is the casting director for Brighton Fashion Weekend this year. Her role involves organizing and running the auditions, co-ordinating models and castings, selecting and street scouting models , working on replacements…All to make sure the designers are going to get the right casting to smoothly showcase their collection. Bethania is very excited and looking forward to see all that gorgeous models walking down the BFW 09’s runway on the 22nd of May after such long period of castings and selections. And she is VERY proud of all BFW 09’s models for all their effort and enthusiasm.
