Cherry Gemma
A young, fresh and innovative designer with big open eyes, Cherry Gemma admits to being uncontrollably inspired by everything around her. She pours her creativity into making costumes for others to continue the creative process with, and has been designing outfits for some of the South's most interesting performers. For this year’s collection, inspiration has been taken from the exo-skeletal, bio-luminescent creatures of the abyss. Pale translucent fabrics are draped, layered, distressed, cut into, tortured, appliquéd, and structured, with glistening, shimmering sparkles, ruffles and textures. Ideas are metamorphosed into fragile and beautiful constructed textiles with undertones of fetishism; creating bespoke pieces of wearable art.
